Exercise Summer Challenge, 2012.

This summer’s exercise is quite simple!

You are challenged to operate portable on 6 or more different Monday nights, at 6 or more different locations. At each location you need to carry out at least 3 QSOs on 144.650MHz. Calling in to the net and talking to the evening’s controller counts as 1 QSO. The other QSOs need to be carried out either before the net starts or after it officially closes. The controller will ask people to remain on air to contact any portable stations taking part in the exercise.

The logs giving dates, locations, power used (approx) and signal reports of the QSOs should be emailed to Steve (Coastal Group Controller), G7VAH, by the end of September (You have until the middle of September!!). He will then issue a collectable certificate to those sending in logs.

Note Portable means from a location and type of operation which cannot be classed as a /A location. If from a vehicle, it must be parked in 1 location – either a car mounted aerial or a portable mast and aerial can be used.

IT IS THE MEMBER’S RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THAT ANY PORTABLE STATION IS SET UP AND USED SAFELY AND NOT BE A DANGER TO EITHER THEMSELVES OR TO ANY MEMBER OF THE PUBLIC.

This includes obvious things like overhead cables, pedestrians etc.
